Please watch the first three lectures on Talam before beginning the Korwe series. There is an instruction video for each Korwe.
A Korwe is a set of adavus that are formatted to a specific rhythmic structure, ending with a Muktayam/Teermanam adavu and layered on a Swara like in a Jatiswaram or Taanam, as in a Tillana. A Korwe can follow opposing rhythm structures or coinciding rhythm structures in comparison to the Swara or Tanam.
This series introduces the Korwe to you as a video with a supporting instruction video. Once you have practiced to the video with the counts, the Swaras will be released, so you understand how the counting and layering normally works in Bharatanatyam repertoire. Holding the 'Layam', or rhythmic tempo and integrity is very important when you work in polyrhythmic structures.
These Korwes are meant for practice. They may or may not be a part of subsequent repertoire.
